Mixed media artist
Stefano’s work seeks to blend traditional portraiture with abstract elements, resulting in pieces that are both grounded in reality and infused with a sense of dynamic energy, striving to capture the essence of each individual he portrays.
His creative process is highly intuitive, with each piece evolving organically as he works. He often begins by layering different materials and textures, using a variety of media such as acrylics, oils, spray paints, charcoal and pastels to build up a rich, multifaceted surface. From there, he uses realistic drawing and painting techniques to bring the portrait to life, carefully capturing the subject’s features and expressions in a way that feels authentic and true to life.
But even as he strives for realism, he is always seeking to push the boundaries of what a portrait can be. He incorporates abstract elements into his work to add depth and complexity, using colour, shape, and texture to evoke a sense of mood or emotion.
The resulting portraits are not just representations of a physical likeness but also windows into the inner world of the subject. Through his work, he hopes to create a space for contemplation and reflection, inviting viewers to engage with the complex, multi-layered nature of human experience.
